Hilariously Heartfelt Coming Out Comedy STORIES FROM MY GAY GRANDPARENTS Launches June 23 on KindaTV

TORONTO (June 3, 2024) — Following a sold out world premiere screening at Inside Out film festival in Toronto, Grandma and Grandpa aren’t hiding anymore - inside or out! Created by screenwriters and stars Scott Farley (The Handmaid’s Tale, The Moblees) and Perrie Voss (Avocado Toast the series, The Boys), directed by J Stevens (Sort Of, Astrid & Lilly Save the World), and produced by Andrew McCann Smith of Play Media Inc., Stories From My Gay Grandparents (10x10) begins streaming Sunday, June 23 on KindaTV.

Ahead of its streaming premiere, the series will make its international debut at the international LGBTQ+ film festival, Frameline, running from June 19-29 in San Francisco.

After a near-death experience, Grandma and Grandpa decide to grab life by the boas and tell the world their deepest secret: they're both gay. With the help of their big-city grandkids, they make up for lost time and start to live life as gaily as mother-tucking possible.

“As queer filmmakers, we aim to share our stories on screen so that everyone can feel seen. For generations, the decision to remain hidden or come out of the closet has been at the centre of the queer community. As more of us become visible and increasingly accepted, a growing number of people have begun to step into the light by sharing their authentic selves,” said Scott Farley and Perrie Voss. “This late-in-life coming out story is a funny yet truthful look at gay culture through various generations. We hope it makes you laugh, cry, and burst with joy as you watch our grandparents, Barbara and Russell, develop new relationships with everyone around them, including themselves. We are extremely proud to have all of our queer characters represented authentically by a wickedly talented cast. Now grab your boas and Birkenstocks and ENJOY!”

“It’s a rare joy as a director to be brought a project that aligns so well with your artistic goals. We made sure we had as many LGBTQ+ folks behind the camera as we had in front of it and I think that authenticity shines through as a result,” said J Stevens. “Making this series, which is at times ridiculous, heartfelt, and also truthful, was a fun tonal line to walk, and I’m very proud of where it ended up.”

Alongside Farley and Voss, Stories From My Gay Grandparents features an all-Canadian cast of incredible emerging and established talent, including James Kall (“Come From Away”), Jane Moffat (Fellow Travelers), Tricia Black (Pretty Hard Cases), Jo Vannicola (Being Erica), Alexander Nunez (Moonshine, Avocado Toast the series), Paloma Nuñez (Spotlight), and Antoine Yared (“Fall On Your Knees”).

Stories From My Gay Grandparents is produced by Andrew McCann Smith of Play Media Inc., with Scott Farley and Perrie Voss serving as creators, writers, and executive producers. Vickie Petronio-King, Trina Allen, and Lena Lees of Play Media Inc. serve as executive producers. Voss and Stevens are represented by Play Management. Farley is represented by the Characters.
